Where to Find the Best Boston Safe Locksmiths
There are over 45 locksmith Boston choices that claim to work on safes, but be careful. Boston is not immune to locksmith scams any more than any other place. I have a couple of recommendations below and I also give an overview of the relevant trade associations and state of the locksmith law in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts Locksmith Laws and Certification Requirements
Massachusetts makes people get a license for just about every conceivable trade or profession, except locksmiths! Alarm system installer, nail salon, and barber all require a license, but not a locksmith. There are no insurance, bonding or other related requirements. Anyone familiar with Massachusetts will find this lack or regulation incredible! (obviously, I live in the Commonwealth!)
Boston Locksmith Trade Associations
The Commonwealth’s trade association is the Massachusetts Locksmith Association(masslocksmoths.org). This organization has a very limited set of by-laws and ethical requirement.
Of course, many Boston locksmiths are members of the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA.org), the main national trade organization.
